W. Curtis Stitt Coach and Trustee (Coaches: Hurdles, Throws, Combined Events)
Founder and Head Coach of New World Track Club, Inc.
For more than thirty years, attorney W. Curtis Stitt has organized, administered and coached youth track and field programs. In 1987, he founded the New World Track Club, Inc. Since New World’s formation, Coach Stitt has led New World coaches in developing 120 national championship medalists including eleven national champions, and fifteen silver medalists. Under Stitt’s leadership, New World has also coached six Ohio high school champions, three Ohio high school state meet record holders and one youth national record holder.
Stitt holds a Juris Doctor Degree from Northern Kentucky University, Chase College of Law and a B.A. from Kent State University where he also had a short stint as a member of the Golden Flashes Track & Field team. Stitt was a long jumper and middle distance runner at Kent and JFK High School in Cleveland, Ohio.
Under Stitt’s leadership, New World programs promote educational opportunities through the New World College Tour; recognize its members’ individual on-track and off-track achievements through Athlete-of-the-week Awards; provide opportunities to travel throughout the country to regional and national championship meets; and encourage activities that help them develop their full potential as young people. New World instills in its members the importance of the constant pursuit of excellence in all endeavors, both on and off the track. Collectively, New World programs expose its members to a diversity of positive experiences that help develop “Champion Athletes on the Track and Champion Citizens off the Track.”
Stitt has held several leadership positions with USA Track & Field, the United States’ governing body for the sport, on the state and national levels. Those positions include Ohio Association president; Ohio Association’s Athletics Board of Review; member of the national Board of Directors and its Executive Committee; national Associations Committee Chairman; member of the national Law & Legislation Committee; member of the National Athletics Board of Review; member of the Doping Control Review Board. Stitt also represented a USA top three athlete in legal and administrative proceedings with USA Track & Field, securing her eligibility to compete in the Olympic Games where she won a silver medal.
A 2003 Jefferson Award Finalist prize recognized Stitt for his volunteer community service with New World Track Club and young people in central Ohio. In 2009 Coach Stitt was awarded the Jewel Award for Leadership in Business and Enterprise for his development, implementation and significant personal involvement in New World Track programs.
Stitt is licensed to practice law in state of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the Ohio and Columbus Bar Associations and a Life Member of the Kent State University Alumni Association.
Stitt is a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and has served a number of community organizations in central Ohio including former board member of the Council for Ethical Leadership, Franklinton Board of Trade and the Gloria Friend (Mt. Olivet) Christian Academy. He is a past president of the Columbus Chapter of the National Council of Black Lawyers and former member of the Executive Committee of the National Board of Directors of USA Track & Field. Stitt is currently a member of the Advisory Board for the Council for Ethical Leadership at Capital University.
Stitt is married and has one daughter who is currently a student at The Ohio State University.

Roger Boyd Coach and Trustee (Coaches: Middle-Distance, Distance, Turbo Javelin and Long Jump)
Coach Boyd has been a USA Track & Field Level 1 coach since 1997 and became a USA Track & Field Developmental Coach in March of 2010. Coach Boyd started coaching track in 1980 with Pbody Track Club, where he coached for 6 years. In 1993 he became a girls’ basketball coach with Liberty Christ Academy and coached for 11 years. He joined New World Track Club in 1996 and specializes in middle distance, distance, turbo javelin and long jump. He is also a Board Trustee for New World Track Club.
Robert Causey Coach (Sprinters)
Coach Causey is a USATF member. He received a Business Administration degree from The University of Maryland Easter Shore where he played football and went on to be a free agent for the Philadelphia Eagles. He has coached track since 1997 and joined New World Track Club in 2003. With New World, his focus is on the fundamentals of track, developing middle distance runners and developing the club’s Heptathlon program. Coach Causey is also one of the Co-Director of club’s Wednesday Night at the Track which is in conjunction with The Ohio State University and held at Jesse Owens Track and Field.
Jim McKay Coach (Distance)
Coach McKay is a 1992 graduate of the University of Washington where he was an 8 time letter winner in Track and Cross Country. He coached at University Prep High School in Seattle before moving to Ohio in 1998 and he currently is a coach at St. Matthew School as well as New World Track Club. Jim still competes in the Masters division at New World Meets and is the oldest competing member of the club. He lives in Blacklick with his wife Heather and their son and daughter Jacob and Delaney who are also New World members.
Terry Goodson Coach (Field Events: Shot and Disc)
Coach Goodson is a graduate of Jefferson Senior High where he played football, basketball, baseball and track and field. He went to Central State University on a football scholarship and received a degree in Business Management. Coach Goodson has been coaching at New World Track for 5 years.
Vickie Smith Coach (Sprinters)
Vikki Smith has been coaching Track and Field since 1996. Coach Smith joined New World Track Club in 2007. She attended Columbus Public Schools where she participated in track and Field. Events she competed in were the 200, 400 dash and relays. Coach Smith graduated from South High School. Coach Smith received an athletic scholarship to attend The Ohio State University. During her career at OSU, she ran the 400 and relays. Coach received her Baccalaureate of Arts in Communications, with a minor in English. Coach Smith is also a certified Level 1 Coach with USATF.
Board of Trustees:
Carolyn Durroh
Carolyn has been affiliated with New World Track club since 2001. Her son ran for the club for five years and she is now a Trustee Member. Over the past five years she has assisted the track club with designing club shirts and has been responsible for club hotel travel arrangements. Carolyn has worked for the State of Ohio for 24 years and currently works for the Department of Rehabilitation & Corrections in the Division of Business Administration.
Greg Franz
Greg has a daughter who has run for New World Track club for 4 years in mid-distance and now has a son joining her on the team. Greg has assisted the field events for the Summer Classic and Worthington meets. He coaches shot put and discus at St. Matthew School in Gahanna. Greg has been in software engineering and the IT field for 20 years. He maintains the New World Track club website and posts meet results. Greg is a new Trustee member.
Angela White
Angela is an attorney with her own Practice located in Columbus, Ohio. A former Judge and Magistrate, Angela has been an active supporter of the New World Track Club for five years. Angela has served as the Clerk of Course for the team-sponsored meets for the last 3 years and believes consistency is essential for a well-run meet. As with her Practice, she is committed to excellence and in fostering an environment where the members of New World Track Club can have a rich and rewarding experience as athletes and as individuals.
